A sport romance series by Grace Reilly
In this series, written by romance author Grace Reilly, we meet the Callahan siblings. They are all on top of their sports but they are all in different sports – we have American football (James, just like their dad), ice hockey (Cooper), baseball (Sebastian) and also volleyball (Izzy). We have four different love stories that will get you invested and hooked. For me, it was a really good sport series and it was especially fun because it’s with four different sports read about. My favorite in this series was the last one Wicked Serve and my least favorite was Stealing Home.

Beyond the Play:
- First Down – James & Bex
The American football player, the golden retriever and amazing player James is in his last year at college and has decided that nothing will interrupt this year, especially a girl. His father has warned him from the last girl that almost ended his upcoming professional career. But when he is about to fail one of his classes he needs a tutor and that becomes Bex. Bex has a horrible ex that cheated on her and doesn’t leave her alone so she comes up with the idea that James can be her fake boyfriend.I really love the fake dating trope in these kinds of books and when you also add the sport romance foundation – I know it’s a good one! You have a sweet but athletic MMC and the forced proximity with being his tutor is just a story to be known as a good one, right? It was a little too sweet for my taste, the MCs are both good but it’s something about the book that doesn’t give me a proper depth and it’s just too quick, you know? Probably my least favorite of this series.

🌶️🌶️ - Breakaway – Cooper & Penny. Cooper has some aggression problems (sexual frustration, according to himself) right now and Coach Ryder is fed up with his behavior and sends him to help out with the younger kids skating school. What Cooper doesn’t know is that he is sent to his coach’s daughter Penny – a former ice skater and they instantly finds each other attractive and they both need the release so they agree to a FWB relationship. When Penny was 16 she was filmed by an ex and that film spread and since then she has had problems being intimate so she has come up with a list to help her out and Cooper can be a true gentleman, when needed, so he finds her list and promise to help her with it.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ - Stealing Home -Sebastian & Mia. Sebastian is the adopted brother to the Callahan family and even though the original Callahan family is full of athletes – so was his dad who was world renowned baseball player and Sebastian has every intention in following his steps. That is until he gets some doubts – what if his foster parents don’t approve of him if he walks away from his bright future as a MLB player or that he doesn’t follow his dad’s wish for him? Since last fall he started hooking up with Penny’s best friend Mia, in all secrecy but they get caught and now Mia wants to end it all, but they can’t stop thinking about each other and when the summer begins and Cooper and Penny travels after Cooper’s season is finished, Mia starts and internship during the summer for a professor and this can help her pursue her true dreams of becoming an astronomer. Unfortunately her dorm room gets flooded and she hasn’t got any plans on where to live now – in sweeps Sebastian and offers her to live with him in the empty house during the summer. Will they stay friends or get involved again? (I think we all know the answer to that, right? 😉)
It was a really sweet story where the supposed upcoming pro athlete doesn’t follow up on that dream but pursue his other, more stronger, dream instead. I think Mia and Sebastian are meant to be and they push each other in the right direction in life.

🌶️🌶️🌶️ - Wicked Serve – Nikolai & Izzy. They started hooking up during the summer when Izzy worked for Nikolais wedding planning business. They went on several dates and really enjoyed each other’s company during that time. Two weeks before school starts again and Izzy is to begin her sophomore year at college and Nikolai his senior year, but they go to different schools. The school hasen’t even begun and he’s already in trouble. As the hockey captain he takes the fall for one of his teammates mistakes and is now thrown out from school. He and his mother fled from Russia to the States almost 10 years ago from his pro hockey playing Russian dad who abused them and his maternal grandfather helped them. He can help Nikolai now too, if he quits hockey after senior year and doesn’t go pro and starts to work in his grandfather’s business instead. That is not something Nikolai wants, he wants to go pro as an ice hockey player, of one the absolute best in college hockey right now. But since he wants to keep playing hockey as long as possible he accept his grandfather’s offer and gets transfered to mcKey College – where all the Callahan children go, including Izzy. It’s not long before they start to hook up again but they can’t be open with their relationship because Cooper and Nikolai are long time rivals and Izzy is afraid of what her brothers will say and also Nikolai doesn’t have the best reputation. But he is really sweet, caring and adorable and is the best kind of boyfriend. When Izzy gets injured he leaves his important game and goes to the hospital to her and the whole family learns that Izzy and Nikolai is in a relationship, you can say that they all have different reactions.
He’s also struggling with mental health issues due to his upbringing with his father and he also doesn’t have the best relationship with his mother, who struggled a lot when they left Russia. His dad i always lurking in the back of his mind and on calls, wanting him to play for him and his team in Russia after graduation but that is something he definitely doesn’t want.
This was the best book of the series and Nikolai and Izzy were my favorite MCs! Their story was so good and their development too. It rounded up the whole series in a brilliant way and it was worth reading the other books first.
