Single Parent Book Trope – My Top Recommendations

One of my favorite book tropes - Single Parent - especially single dad 😉

It’s something about a single parent trope in books that reins me in every single time! They’re caring but have put their life on hold because of their child/children but they still feel a lot of desire that’s about to be released.

These are some of my recommendations and it’s a mixture of single dad/nanny trope, close proximity, single moms and taboo romances (like ex boyfriends dad in Birthday Girl or teacher and students parent in Misconduct).

Read the list down below for a short summary of each book, I hope you’ll enjoy these as well as I have 🙂

My Top Recommendations for the Single Parent Trope

  1. Heartless by Elsie Silver. One of my absolute favorite books of all time. He’s a grumpy cowboy looking for a nanny and his brother’s fiancé recommends her best friend who’s a black cat and feisty, and also 13 years younger.
  2. Caught Up by Liz Tomforde. Also a single daddy/nanny trope. He’s a professional baseball player who needs a nanny to take care of his 15 month old son Max. What he doesn’t know is that she’s his coach’s daughter. Also a very feisty and independent woman.
  3. Mountain Daddy by SJ Tilly. Kendra has a one night stand with the hotter older guy at the Inn, what she doesn’t know is that he’s her dad’s best friend.
  4. Slap Shot by Chelsea Curto. Madeleine and her deaf daughter moves in with the famous ice hockey player Hudson as she is now his personal chef. This slow burn is everything!
  5. Misconduct by Penelope Douglas. They meet at a ball and catch each others interest and stays on each others minds several months afterwards. But now she’s Tyler’s son’s teacher and what are they going to do now in this forbidden love romance situation?
  6.  Chasing the Wild by Elliott Rose. A taboo romance with an age gap where Layla has broken up with her boyfriend, drives to his address to ask about the loan he did in her name, meets and older attractive guy at the gas station only to meet him once more – as her ex boyfriends dad. It doesn’t stop there though – he offers her a place for her to finish vet school and what do they do now when they get snowed in for the entire winter?
  7. Unravel Me by Becka Mack. Adam is the star goalie and has recently broke up with his long time, cheating, girlfriend. He dates but hasn’t clicked with anyone yet, until he meets this girl with pink hair tips and who is also walking a dog. She doesn’t recognize him and he goes with it, but is it worth it in the end when she finds out and he’s already involved with her life and little kid?
  8. Mr. Masters by T.L. Swan. Another single dad/nanny trope, also with a lot of spice! He’s a rich judge looking for a nanny for his two kids and in walks this young woman and she didn’t know it was this older and smoking hot man she was going to nanny for.
  9. Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas. Pike and Jordan meet at the cinema and enjoys each other’s company but when the movie ends she gets a call from her boyfriend who got arrested, turns out he’s the son she just enjoyed the movies with…
  10. Older by Jennifer Hartmann. Reed and Halley meet at a party where they instantly find an attraction between them and want to go all the way but don’t get the chance when a neighbor interrupt and ask why the young Halley is there and Reed knows she isn’t 21 as she told him, but what’s worse is when they later on finds out he’s her best friend’s dad. It doesn’t stop them though.
